De Grey Mining is actively exploring for epithermal gold-silver deposits in Santa Cruz Province, Argentina and gold, base metals and uranium in the Pilbara Region of WA. The Company also retains significant interests in several iron ore projects.
At the Turner River Project near Port Hedland in Western Australia, the Company has defined the 220,000 oz Wingina Well gold resource and discovered a belt of VMS-style Zn-Pb-Ag-Au mineralization extending over 20km strike length. De Grey has entered into farm-out and option agreements over the Turner River properties in order to secure exploration funding commitments of $3.5 million over three years.
De Grey has also amassed 5,340 sq km of ground in the Paterson region of Western Australia, with exploration targets defined for Kintyre-style uranium and Nifty-style copper mineralisation in this frontier exploration area. Recent pre-competitive government geophysical surveys are changing interpretations of the geological architecture of the region and revealing new exploration targets.
By staking, and farm-in and option agreements, De Grey has secured exploration rights over 3,751 sq km in the Deseado Massif of Santa Cruz Province, Argentina. The Deseado has recently been recognised as one of the world's premier regions of low-sulphidation epithermal Au-Ag mineralisation. Mineral resources and reserves discovered in the region since 1990 total about 11.5Moz Au and 245Moz Ag.
De Grey holds a 20% interest, free carried to decision to mine, in the Beyondie Iron JV located in Western Australia’s Pilbara region. A resource of 561Mt @ 27.5% Fe has been defined at Beyondie and exploration indicates potential to more than double that resource.
The Company also retains rights to 1% - 2% gross royalties on future iron ore production from certain tenements at Turner River, under agreements with Atlas Iron.
De Grey also has significant exposure to a magnetite iron ore project through its priority application for a 118 sq km area at Fortescue Island, off Cape Preston in Western Australia. The tenement covers the northern strike extensions of the Brockman Iron Formation, the unit that hosts the combined 60 to 100 billion tonnes of magnetite iron resources owned by Citic Pacific Mining, Australasian Resources Ltd and Mineralogy Pty Ltd.
